Adding a Note to your Meal Photo
Overview
When you snap a photo of your meal, you can add a note to help our system better understand what’s in the image. This is especially useful when certain details aren't visible or when there’s more to the story than meets the lens.
When Should You Add a Note?
Here are a few great reasons to include a note with your meal photo:
Ingredient Details: Mention key nutrients or ingredients that may not be obvious (e.g., "high-fiber cereal", "protein powder added").
Recipe Details: if you're entering a recipe, be sure to indicate how many servings the recipes yields (creates), and how many servings you are planning to consume
Hard-to-See Items: Call out toppings, sauces, or mixed-in ingredients not visible in the image (e.g., "chia seeds under the yogurt").
Portion Clarifications: Let us know if you didn't finish the meal or only ate part of what’s shown (e.g., "ate half the fries").
Already Started Eating? Note that too! (e.g., "photo taken after a few bites").
Packaging Info: If it's a store-bought item, mention the brand and name (e.g., "Amy's Lentil Soup").
Where to Add It
Once you’ve taken your meal photo:
Navigate to the note box just below the image.
Type your note.
Indicate the preparation method, if applicable.
Submit your meal log by tapping Add Meal.
Why It Matters
Even a short note helps improve the accuracy of your meal analysis — making your nutrition insights smarter, faster, and more personalized.
Tip: You can add up to two photos per entry, but you're not limited to just one entry per meal!
Feel free to take a separate photo for each dish or beverage — no need to cram everything into one shot. More photos = more accurate analysis.
